LAS VEGAS – A local man who went viral recently for vaulting over the judge’s stand has announced via his lawyer that he will be entering the NFL draft after several teams reached out to ask about his availability.
Deobra Redden, 30, was in court being sentenced for an attempted battery charge that he pled guilty to last year and charged the District Judge Mary Kay Holthus when it became evident that he would be spending time in prison.
The violent attack, which was caught on camera, landed Redden back in jail on a $54,000 bail and new charges against him including attempted murder, extortion, coercion with force and battery on a protected person (referring to the judge and the officers who intervened to protect her)., but also caught the eye of several NFL scouts.
“Did you see the vertical leap on that kid?” asked Gerald Jonovich, a talent scout for the Cleveland Browns. “He could clear the offensive line in a single bound like fucking Superman. Some teams might shy away from him because of the amount of negative publicity around him right now, but I can’t imagine him dropping any lower than the third round. He’s a solid second round pick for sure.”
“We have a long, storied history of recruiting players adept to criminal activity and physically assaulting women,” said Patrick Duvall, director of player operations for the Baltimore Ravens. “The most logical thing to do is pay this man millions of dollars to take out that aggression on big, sweaty dudes who get off on beating the crap out of each other.”
Redden returned to the courthouse Monday to complete sentencing for his earlier crimes and received between 19 months and four years in jail. He is expected back in court next month to deliberate over the charges filed against him for his outburst on January 3rd.
The 2024 NFL draft is scheduled to be held in Detroit April 25-27. It’s not clear whether or not Redden will be able to attend in person.
