California GOP Candidate Calls Auschwitz a “Solution,” Gets Only Platform He Deserves: None

SACRAMENTO — Kyle Langford, a Republican gubernatorial candidate in California, recently referred to Auschwitz as a “solution for homelessness,” triggering condemnation from across the globe and cementing his campaign’s strategy as a grotesque exercise in shock politics.

Langford, who claims to be proud of his “German ancestry,” posed smiling outside Auschwitz’s gates in a photo captioned: “My 0% unemployment plan.” He followed up by thanking the Auschwitz Memorial Museum for the “shoutout,” saying his “German ancestors smile upon him.”

In response, the Auschwitz Memorial Museum called his statements a “profound moral failure,” adding:

“Auschwitz is not a prop. Kyle Langford, your post is an affront to the dignity of the victims and a disturbing display of insensitivity and disregard for horrifying human history.”

Langford is not projected to advance past California’s top-two primary system—a system he referred to in a since-deleted post as “Jewish trickery”—but he has gained attention through a scorched-earth campaign built on racist, antisemitic, and authoritarian rhetoric.

“* **** ** **** ****** *** ***’* *** ** **,” said Langford, a wannabe nazi piece of dog shit, who would throw your family in prison or in front of a firing squad if they disagree with his fascist ideology. “**’** **** ** **** ***, * ******* ** *** ** *******.”

So let us be very clear:

Kyle Langford is a fascist. Not a “provocateur,” not a “populist,” not a “fringe conservative.” He is a man running for office on a platform that includes the mass incarceration and murder of vulnerable people. His speech is not a policy disagreement. It is a threat.

And like every fascist before him, he’s using democracy only long enough to dismantle it.

To paraphrase British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan, fascists don’t want debate. They want the illusion of debate. They want one more election. Just one. To choose the dictator. After that, it’s tanks and tribunals. There is no value in engaging with someone who sees your existence as a problem to be solved.

That is not censorship. It is respect—for history, for truth, and for every human being Langford’s ideology would dehumanize or destroy.
