To show solidarity within the immigrant population Mexican restaurants are holding the ICE on
all margaritas.

The move is a sign that the managers of these establishments have had enough of ICE raids
resulting in the loss of kitchen staff.

“We can’t just keep letting them come in,” says Hector Martinez, Manager at Salsa Verde
Mexican Bar & Grill. “We need our staff here so we can keep offering 1/2 Happy Hour drinks
Monday through Friday, along with our world-famous Nachos Grande for $10.”

The no ICE protest goes beyond the famous cocktail to include all beverages, Martinez
explained.

“We don’t want no ICE, any ICE,” says Martinez.

This simple act goes a long way to support the migrant community.

A worker who asked to remain anonymous said, “No entiendo Inglés y por favor, déjame en
paz.”

The protest doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. More restaurants are rumored to be
joining the movement too.

“We are joining the movement because we have been visited by ICE agents,” says Ricardo
Garcia, Owner of Puerto Rico’s. “We are a Puerto Rican restaurant with a Puerto Rican staff, so
we don’t have any legal issues. The agents see brown people, and they just ask for papers.”

As this saga keeps unfolding, we will continue to give you updates. But until then expect to
enjoy warm to room temperature beverages at your favorite cantinas.
