Baldur’s Gate 3 recently won game of the year and it’s easy to see why. With more than 17,000 possible endings and some of the most promiscuous characters in video game history, the Dungeons & Dragons inspired game has some serious replay value that will not only keep you entertained but make you question your sexuality (damn you Karlach!). But after more than a dozen playthroughs to try all the different character classes and tastefully bed each of our companions, I decided to jump on the latest gaming bandwagon and try PalWorld.

PalWorld is an open-world survival game developed by Pocketpair which drops you in a land of adorable and powerful friends called Pals. Along with friends or solo, you must explore the Palpagos Islands, catch and collect the Pals, build a base, and put the Pals to work (in a totally non-slavery kind of way). With each level you gain, you can unlock new technology to make your quest for survival that much easier.

After dropping more than 100 hours in the new game, I can say with absolute certainty that PalWorld is a great game and I will undoubtedly play it multiple times. However, after simping over the NPCs of Baldur’s Gate for so long, there is one in-game mechanic that’s missing: romance. I mean, did the developers really think people like me would not only play, but replay the game without any prospects of love so soon after Baldur’s Gate 3 dropped? It’s a survival game, right? How are we supposed feel any sort of comfort about our in-game future without any methods of procreation?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: why would a game like this include a romance mechanic? I get it, the game’s graphics and character models are very reminiscent of Pokémon—a game filled with characters who’ve perpetually been 10 years old since 1998. But the game launched in early access (according to steam: Early Access games are not complete and may or may not change further) and Pocketpair has been very vocal about its plans for the games future with a roadmap it dropped on the company’s social media.

While this roadmap has not explicitly said anything about adding any kind of romantic mechanics in the near future, the horndogs over at Pocketpair haven’t exactly been subtle about their lust for questionable cartoon characters. Case in point, Lovander.

According to the PalWorld Wiki, Lovander is a very tall humanoid reptilian Pal with a predominately light pink colour across its entire body, with a patch of fur on its chest in the shape of a heart in a deeper shade of pink and another heart over its pelvic region that contains a small amount of purple. Additionally, Lovander’s description is listed as: Seeking a night of love, it is always chasing someone around. At first it only showed interest in other Pals, but in recent years even humans have become the target of its debauchery.

And if that doesn’t convince you, Lovander’s number in the Paldeck is 69. Giggity!

Of course, I’m not really suggesting the developers allow us to romance Pals. There are plenty of other humans in the game and I’m pretty sure Lily at Free Pal Alliance Tower was giving me a look that said she’d rather be doing something other than Pal battling, if you know what I mean. *wink wink*. But given the number of twisted things you can already do in this game and the fact Pocketpair is a Japanese company, we wouldn’t be surprised if some hentai-inspired Pal-romance eventually finds its way into the game.

What do you think about romance in PalWorld? Will we see it in a future update? Do you want it? Let me know in the comments!
