Earlier this morning, after drawing a “really great” (according to his wife) picture of a T-Rex fighting a giant robot in the rubble of Gaza City, Vice President J.D. Vance put away the crayons he received during his time in the Marine Corps and began planning his family’s next taxpayer funded vacation.

The Vance family is planning to rent a quaint little luxury cottage in the United Kingdom for the moderate price of almost $11,000 a week.

“I don’t think you understand just how stressful this job is,” said Vance from the comfort of his favorite Corinthian leather love seat. “I’ve already used up most of my favorite crayons and we’re running out of space on the refrigerator for my art. Usha said we may need to throw some of them away. It’s a lot of pressure.”

On the campaign trail, J.D. Vance continuously criticized then-Vice President Kamala Harris for making promises of change during her bid for becoming the 47th president of the United States and “not doing anything” while serving in as Joe Biden’s number two.

The tactic worked and Donald Trump and Vance defeated Harris for the oval office. Six months into their term, Vance is now planning his seventh family vacation, leading many experts to believe Vance never really understood how much power the VP actually has.

“Just because his job title has the word ‘president’ in it doesn’t mean he has any real authority in this administration,” said Tad Crater, an independent political analyst. “At this rate, the vice president will take around 56 family vacations over the next four years which costing hundreds of millions of dollars, if not more. That’s about 55 more vacations than the average American family that is struggling to make ends meet.”

The Vance family vacations have drawn criticism both at home and abroad for the cost of the trips, the apparent lack of work Vance is doing, and for the preferential treatment his family is getting.

In his family’s most recent excursion, the secret service had the Army Corps of Engineers temporarily raise the waters of an Ohio river for a boating trip. In April, he visited Rome and had the entire Coliseum shut down for a private tour, enraging other visitors who were denied entry. Similarly, the Taj Majal was shut down for a private Vance family trip when they visited India.

“The thing that annoys me the most isn’t the vacations, it’s that this administration campaigned on cutting government wasteful spending, but Vance is taking a vacation every other week, Trump is traveling overseas to promote his private golf courses, and the average American is having their healthcare cut to pay for it all,” said Rebecca Flowers, a mother of two who works four jobs to pay the bills. “I don’t think I’ve seen such flagrant hypocrisy in politics before, and the sad part is a large group of people actually think this is making America great again.”

Meanwhile, as the Trump administration continues to make it more difficult for the American people to survive, J.D. Vance is already thumbing through some travel magazines to figure out where he’s going next.
