WASHINGTON – An aethereal being that closely resembles Mitch McConnell (R-KY), has been seen wandering the halls of the U.S. Capitol on the eve of the Senate’s return to Washington to pretend to govern on behalf of the American people, farthing speculation that the longtime lawmaker is dead.
“I turned the corner and, bam! there was Mr. McConnell, or who I though was Mr. McConnell,” said Tiffany Hafner, an aid to U.S Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT). “I said, ‘good morning, sir,” but he just had this dead, thousand-yard stare in his mysteriously glowing eyes as he lurched down the hallway. It also got weirdly cold as his body just kinda passed through mine as if I wasn’t even there.”
Senator Addison Mitchell McConnell, 84, has been declared missing since June, when he was rushed to the hospital after his LifeAlert notified emergency medical services that he had fallen and couldn’t get up.
While many people were unphased by the senator’s hospitalization—old people are fragile and should probably spend their retirement aged years living life away from public service where their inevitable health problems could potentially hinder American democracy—the lack of any conclusive proof of life from the Kentuckian or his staff has led to widespread speculation that things were not as they seemed.
“Look man, I’ve been a big fan of Mitch ever since he was first elected back in ’85,” said Darrell Haskel, a Kentucky-based construction foreman. “But the fact he and his staff can’t just film a video of the guy waving and saying, ‘not dead yet’, just felt a little off to me. Like, it’s 2026, man. We got the tools. We got the technology. Just stop playing fucking games with us.”
The theory that the senator died has only grown stronger over the past three months and fueled a gambit of speculations as to why the Senate, the senator’s office, and the GOP would try and hide the truth from the public. These hypotheses range from the plausible, such as they didn’t want his senate seat to be up for grabs and potentially taken by a Democrat in the upcoming midterm elections and the announcement of his passing will come shortly after, to the absurd, such as the humanoid reptilian deep state living in an ancient civilization under the streets of Washington DC took the incapacitated politician hostage to bargain a treaty to allow them to return to the surface world.
We may never know why the Republicans and this administration, who claim to be the most transparent administration in the history of the country, are being so non-transparent about this situation. Not wanting to lose a Senate seat makes sense, especially given how the GOP are trending negatively in polls across the country, but if McConnell has passed away, they may only be delaying an inevitable outcome, pending any government overreach to cripple people’s constitutional right to vote, because the former Senate majority leader had already announced he wasn’t running for office again after the completion of his term.
Unless, of course, binding his soul to the mortal realm to keep him in office was all part of the plan from the beginning.
“There’s a very good chance, I think, that the reason we’re seeing Mitch McConnell’s ghost in the U.S. Senate today is because the Republican party plans to take control of his soul and use it, like a puppet, to keep him in Congress forever,” said Tad Crater, a paranormal investigator. “Think about it. You bind his soul to the Capitol. He can’t leave. He’s already been a senator for 41 years. People hate change. You think they’re not going to vote for a guy they’ve elected for the past four decades just because he’s dead? This is the long game by the GOP, I think. Don’t be surprised if other old republicans start dropping dead and coming back as mindless apparitions to carry out the party’s agenda.”
We tried reaching out to the senate republicans for comment, but they never returned our calls.
