Proposed bill offers veterans 10 cent gas discount if they fought in a war for oil

WASHINGTON – A new piece of legislation is currently being debated on Capitol Hill to provide veterans of foreign wars for oil a discount at the pump.

The bill, dubbed “the oil fighter relief fund” is meant to give financial relief to veterans who fought for American oil rights in other countries during this difficult time where diesel and gas prices are at historic highs.

“These American patriots put their lives on the line, and sometimes paid the ultimate sacrifice, for American petroleum and deserve a small ‘thank you’ from the American people,” said Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) through a interpretation spell cast by the necromancer who brought him back to life.

The bill, which passed the Republican-held Senate during a late-night vote down party lines 53-47, would guarantee a permanent 10 cent discount at the pump for all veterans of oil-producing wars, a 15-cent discount for disabled veterans of those wars, and a 25-cent discount if the service member died in the war. (This benefit is non-transferable to dependents or survivors)

Members of Congress would also receive a lifetime government charge card to use taxpayer dollars to pay for all their gas as a benefit for passing this veteran relief bill.

Senate Republicans were hoping for fast-track vote in the House of Representatives to get this Bill on President Trump’s desk for a signature to use as a selling point to voters prior to the midterm elections. Unfortunately, that’s off the table as Speaker Mike Johnson sent the House home early to avoid voting on articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

Instead, the GOP will be forced to rely upon its traditional tactic of accusing the Democrats of hating the country’s military. However, Senate Democrats are warning that the weaponization of their ‘no’ votes are misleading.

“The right wants you to think we hate the military,” said Chuck Schumer (D-NY). “That’s simply not true, this time. This isn’t a clean bill, and we’d be doing a disservice to our constituents if we vote this this. The Republicans know this, but bundling the President’s unpopular, unconstitutional malarkey in a veterans Bill is the only way they know how to pass anything.”

Tucked away neatly in this 10,000-page bill includes the SAVE act, which has continuously failed to be passed by both chambers of Congress, approval to tear down the Kennedy Center, approval to build Trump’s ballroom on the White House, a provision to replace the Supreme Court with a Trump-appointed AI agent, and funding to pay for snipers at Trump’s proposed Triumphal Arch.

The bill also strips away all funding for the Department of Veterans affairs to pay for everything else.

Republicans are touting this bill as the most veteran-friendly piece of legislation since Woodrow Wilson signed the Selective Service Act of 1917, which was responsible for creating so many veterans, whether they wanted it or not.

The House is expected to vote on the bill as soon as they return from their extended recess, just after midterms. Whether or not it passes will likely depend on whether or not Republicans maintain control.
